Where to go for the best gyms and fitness in the South-West

If you like to maintain your fitness regime when you’re on holiday, then the South-West is certainly no barrier to exercise.

With beautiful beaches and lush forests to explore, there are plenty of options for walking, running or cycling outdoors.

However, if you’d prefer a more formal workout at the gym or an organised fitness class, then that’s also possible.

Here are some great exercise options throughout the South-West.

Dunsborough

The Movement Fitness & Wellbeing

The Movement’s team of experienced coaches offers personal training as well as group fitness classes and yoga in partnership with Yoga South West. Casual classes cost $20, with creche facilities available for some classes at $5 per child.

Devahiti Yoga & Bodywork

Start your day with a yoga flow overlooking pristine Geographe Bay. Mandy will guide you in gentle Hatha yoga, which is suitable for all levels. Group classes take place in the mornings and cost $15 per class, with private sessions also available.

Dunsborough Bay Yacht Club, 307 Geographe Bay Road, Dunsborough

Newlife Studio Pilates

Newlife is the only certified professional Pilates studio in Dunsborough, with owner Andreé offering private, semi-private or group Pilates classes Monday to Friday using all studio equipment, as well as a daily group cross training class. Cost is $30 for casual users.

Perfect Balance

Perfect Balance offers a state-of-the-art gym facility plus daily fitness classes in Boxing Circuit, X Training, Pilates and Mmaxfit (based on mixed martial arts). A casual day membership is $20.

30 Faure Lane, LIA Dunsborough

CrossFit South West

CrossFit runs daily classes from three locations (Bunbury, Busselton and Dunsborough), promising a new and exciting workout each session. For holiday-makers, the Traveller pass is best at $60 for one week or $25 per session and applies to all locations.

Yallingup

Yoga at Yallingup

Yoga at Yallingup is on again this summer, starting weekends from December 1 and daily from Boxing Day. Located on the grassy area overlooking the main surf break, the 75-minute class starts at 7am and caters to all levels, with no booking needed. Cost is $18 per class ($15 concession) and mats can be hired for $1.

 

Margaret River

F45

F45 in Margaret River and Vasse combines elements of HIIT, circuit training, and functional training in 45-minute workouts. There’s a variety of classes on offer each day. A casual class costs $30.

Body Club 24-7

Open 24 hours a day, Body Club has a fully equipped gym; a studio for yoga; Pilates and other classes such as Spin, Boot Camp 45 and Pump; and a boxing area and outside space. Classes run Monday to Saturday. Drop-in rate is $15, with a creche available in the mornings at $4 per child per hour.

Hanu Yoga & Massage

The Hanu yoga studio is a cosy space tucked away amongst the trees in Margaret River. Classes vary from Gentle Beginners to Yin Yoga, Align & Flow and Restorative Yoga and cost $17 per class. Next door, a treatment studio offers massages and other relaxing treatments starting from $80 per hour.

MOJO Physio & Yoga

MOJO offers private yoga classes as well as physiotherapy, massage and PhysioYoga, which can be done in-clinic or at your holiday home. Owner Jos can also do personal training sessions or injury management.
