A season of events in Margaret River
Here comes the sun! Summer in Australia has arrived and we all deserve a carefree season of frivolity and celebration. Lucky for us, Western Australia’s Margaret River region is pulling out all the stops. Whether you’re down south over Christmas with your young family, partying for New Year with friends, or having a chilled late summer getaway with your other half, there’s plenty to see and do. Here are the events in Margaret River not to miss!

Live Music Line-Up at Aravina Estate
Chill out on the lawns of this spectacular picturesque estate with its manicured gardens and gazebos. All that’s required of you is finding a spot on the grass to sit down, soaking up the live music and swilling some great wine.

Sun Soaker at Flametree Wines
Enjoy a brilliant Sunday afternoon with the vibes provided by DJ Mandy B, scrumptious oysters courtesy of Get Pickled and Get Shucked and, of course, outstanding wine by Flametree. Free entry but you do need to RSVP and pre-order oysters.

Woodlands Sundowner
Who says there’s nothing to do midweek? For a very reasonable $15 you can rendezvous on the lawns of Woodlands Wines enjoying canapes and live music from local outfit, Acousto. So why not forgo dinner at home and have an impromptu night out instead?

Margaret River World Food Night Market
It’s no secret that markets are incredibly popular ‘round these parts, so head to Doust’s Corner in Margaret River for this special world food market. Wander around the food stalls, taking in the festive atmosphere with all the delectable aromas wafting through the air.

Summer Solstice, Passel Estate
Sit back and watch as the sun melts away and the balmy South West evening takes over. With a glass of Sauv Blanc on arrival, a jazz band playing away nearby and an indulgent picnic hamper ready to be cracked open, what a way to celebrate the longest days of summer.

Carols in the Park
Get into the festive spirit with a cheerful night of Christmas carols. Bring a picnic or grab yourself a bite at the sausage sizzle. Register your attendance soon.

Come along to Lion’s Park in Dunsborough and browse the wares from local producers and stock up on some last-minute Christmas gifts for your loved ones.

New Year’s Eve on Busselton Foreshore
For a family-friendly New Year affair, wander down to the foreshore to revel in the fireworks, music and dancing. With your family and friends by your side, watch as the golden sun sets for the last time in 2020.

New Year’s Eve at Settlers Tavern
While we can’t jet off overseas for a NYE jaunt this year, we can still have a bit of fun with the travel theme. Settlers Tavern in Margaret River is putting on a ‘Passport Party’ with DJs, drinks, food, and a holiday dress-up for those who feel like getting into the costume spirit. Tickets are essential.

January events in the South West
Festival of Busselton
Okay, so this technically starts on the last day in December but since it runs for the duration of January, we’ve included it here. The festival includes many, many activities and attractions for all ages, including an outdoor cinema, treasure hunts, possum night walks, art shows, and markets. A must visit for those looking for school holiday activities in Busselton.

Here Comes the Sun music festival
Hello 2021! Usher in the first days of the new year rocking out to Birds of Tokyo, Drapht, Crooked Colours, and more, at the Dunsborough Playing Fields. Buses from as far away as Margaret River and Bunbury are available so you don’t have to worry about driving or parking.

Oysters and Riesling at Howard Park
Salty oysters, crisp Riesling, and a game of Bocce: unwind on the shady lawns zoning out to the smooth beats of Kachina DJs. What a cracking afternoon in the steamy midst of summer.

Events throughout summer in the South West
15 Days of Summer, Aravina Estate
Join Aravina for the launch of its taphouse and new craft beer during the silly season. Sample the wine, bop to some chilled out live music, watch oysters getting shucked, and visit the Pizza and Aperol Bar for food and drinks at this family-friendly affair.

Outdoor cinema, Caves House
On those lazy summertime vacation evenings, what could be better than a relaxing night watching a movie under the stars on the lawns of the iconic Cave House? Set yourself up in a good spot and enjoy a casual bite to eat before settling down for the flick.

Outdoor cinema, Cape Mentelle
This is always really popular so make sure you book in advance. Grab a glass of wine, a burger or nibbles, and head down to the screen with your big beanbag recliner and blanket in hand. Note, the evenings can get a bit of crisp here, so best to rug up. And try not to be distracted by the dazzling starry sky overhead!
