Leeuwin concerts under the stars

For 30 years, Leeuwin Estate in Margaret River has been inviting music lovers to bring along a picnic and settle on the lawns to enjoy a choice of two summertime outdoor concerts. The surrounding karri trees and soaring night sky make a spectacular backdrop. It’s little wonder this annual event has such a strong following and remains a major drawcard in the area.

This year’s relaxed family concert will be on the long weekend of Saturday January 24^th, 2015. Australia’s own singer-songwriter Bernard Fanning (pictured), formerly of Powderfinger, will perform songs from his award-winning Tea and Sympathy and Departures albums, as well as a mix of new and old songs.

On Saturday, March 7^th 2015, the second event in the Leeuwin Estate Concert series (where you can purchase VIP restaurant packages or frock up for your own fine picnic), will feature Welsh bass-baritone Bryn Terfel and soprano Rachelle Durkin performing popular opera and stage musical classics under the stars. Special guest Lisa McCune and the Perth Symphony Orchestra will also be performing, followed by a post-concert arena party where guests can stay to dance and enjoy the band until late.

The shuttle buses are well run and a great suggestion for guests staying in the Margaret River, Dunsborough and Yallingup areas.
