Gourmet Escape 2019:
the biggest event of the year
Do you have your tickets yet? This is Western Australia’s gastronomic event of the year, and one any serious food and wine lover should attend. With more than 50 of the most admired and awarded experts of the culinary and wine world featured in more than 50 unique events, this is truly a feast for the senses.
In previous years, we’ve had some of the world’s biggest names – Nigella Lawson, Rick Stein, Heston Blumenthal – grace our shores. This year we welcome the original celebrity chef Marco Pierre White, plus David Chang of New York City’s hot spot Momofuku, Alla Wolf-Tasker of Daylesford’s divine retreat Lake House, Amanda Cohen of Iron Chef Canada fame, Italian Michelin star chef Carlo Cracco, plus many more.

The Westpac Gourmet Beach BBQ
One of the hottest tickets of the whole festival. A picturesque location right on Castle Rock Beach, mouth-watering gourmet BBQ fare, and legendary chef David Chang of New York’s trendy Momofuku. Watch the sun go down and revel in the light-hearted party atmosphere while you savour how real a BBQ should be.

Eating at the Crossroads: Nouri comes to Vasse Felix
What better way to celebrate food and wine in the South West than at the region’s founding winery, Vasse Felix? Join former Fat Duck test kitchen chef Ivan Brehm, who is teaming up with Vasse Felix winemaker Virginia Willcox and chef Brendan Pratt, to delve deep and expand your knowledge of food and wine.

Cullen Wines Chardonnay Tasting and Lunch
Now in its 34th year, the Cullen family’s annual tasting is a must-do. Vanya Cullen was recently named by renowned wine critic James Halliday as Winemaker of the Year 2019! Join Vanya, James Halliday and Christina Pickard of WineEnthusiast as they chat about chardonnays from world-class grape-growing regions around the world. The gourmet lunch will be prepared by Jo Barrett, of Oakridge Estate in the Yarra Valley.

Lake House meets Wills Domain
Join two culinary heavyweights for a gastronomic meal you’ll never forget. Alla Wolf-Tasker of refined luxury retreat, Lake House in Daylesford Victoria, will team up with Wills Domain’s celebrated head chef Seth James. Enjoy local ingredients paired with delicious Wills Domain wine.

Mission Chinese X Chow’s Table
Yallingup’s Chow’s Table only opened in 2018, but it has established itself as a firm favourite in the region. This lively event features modern Chinese food cooked by Chow’s Table head chef Mal Chow and US celeb chef Danny Bowien of Mission Chinese Food. Wash it all down with brews from Gage Road.

Safari Club Cookout
If you’re a MasterChef fan, this charming, rustic forest venue may seem familiar. Now, the hard choice is, which event will you choose to attend? Take your pick: Thai food with Long Chim’s David Thompson and Garima Arora of Gaa in Bangkok. Or maybe you have a penchant for gourmet Indian, or you want to experience a BBQ celebrating Indigenous cuisine? Or, attend all three!
