Events you cannot miss this winter in the South-West

Western Australia’s South-West is abuzz with one-day-only special experience events, week-long food festivals and live music. Avoid FOMO and book your tickets to the best of the winter season’s entertainment.

Truffle Kerfuffle

If you consider yourself a bit of a connoisseur of the finer things in life (or you just love and appreciate the amazing-ness that is food) you definitely need to head down to Manjimup’s Truffle Kerfuffle. This three-day event is dedicated to one of nature’s most wonderful gifts, the black truffle – a small, unassuming ingredient that has the ability to transform a meal from nice to wow.

Join a truffle hunt, enjoy a four-course dinner with Yarri head chef Aaron Carr, attend a long table lunch with MasterChef alumnus Poh, or sit down for a wholesome brunch with My Kitchen Rules’ Pete Evans. For something slightly less truffle-y, attend a beer and spirit masterclass while you’re there.

When: this weekend – 21 to 23 June

Where: Manjimup

Cabin Fever

There are dozens of unique and thoughtfully put together events at this year’s Cabin Fever festival – all revolving around food, music, drinks and just having a great old time. Events not to be missed include Black Glass Tasting for blind wine tasting with Cape Mentelle. There is also Game On, a six-course degustation and wine pairing evening with Yarri and Oakridge Estate.

Try an international dining event with Many Hands, Many Lands: A World Class Feast, where you’ll be treated to authentic food from Korea, Germany, France, Spain and Thailand, created by Voyager Estate’s international team of chefs. For meat lovers, make sure you book a ticket for Smoke and Fire, a five-course barbecue at Wise Wines (you’ll also get a crash course in smoking meats). There is so much more including Fondue by the Fire for lovers of cheese, the social Sunday Yum Cha, an epic Cheese Toastie Battle and a Secret Dinner.

Many of the events are already sold out, so don’t procrastinate; book your tickets and accommodation now.

Faulty Towers Dining Experience

Remember those hilarious (and infamous) scenes in Fawlty Towers? Now you can experience what it would have been like to be a dinner guest! Sit down with Basil, Sybil and Manuel at Caves House in Yallingup for an evening of interactive, improvised comedy over a two-hour, three-course dinner. This has been a very popular event at Fringe around the world, so don’t miss your chance.
