A van for all seasons
We’re enjoying the number and range of quality food vans popping up in the local Dunsborough area. These vendors on wheels specialise in anything from coffees and Mexican fare to hot chocolates, Indian curries, fruit juices and gourmet burgers. Great for a quick coffee on the run or for a hearty taste sensation while watching the sunset at Yallingup. Magic!
These trucks and caravans set up shop at varying days and times of the week at many of the area’s great vantage points and hot spots — from Dunsborough’s foreshore and Old Dunsborough boat ramp to Yallingup, and at local weekend farmers markets. Early mornings and evenings are all covered.
It’s also great to see so many providores featuring local produce on their menus and putting a lot of love into what they do. For instance, Comet Kitchen (top picture) serves hot chips made from local spuds, which go nicely with their range of gourmet burgers (and yummo relish!) and Fremantle-made icy treats.
Indian/Pakistani food truck Spice Odysee has been a long-time local favourite, once given rave reviews in Gourmet Traveller Magazine. The wonderful menu includes curries, daily specials, condiments and vegetarian and gluten-free options.
Early risers in Dunsborough looking for a mid-week coffee fix at 6am should also know about Hot Chocolatte’s pink mobile caravan (pictured). It really is as sweet as it looks — and the coffees and hot chocolates are pretty good too.
Silver Bullet Espresso is another popular caffeine vendor, shown here (bottom photos), in Old Dunsborough.
